Great but ..
I bought 2 for my Pitbulls who are different in size. I bought 2 XL sized boxes. Both dogs ( 65lbs and 115 lbs ) fit perfectly and the bigger one has plenty of room to stretch and stand. One of the door hatch came off and the spring popped out after about 6 or 7 uses but I was able to pop everything back into place.Overall pretty happy with them and would purchase again

The latch is a little challenging
Great size for Australian shepherd. I use it in bedroom. There’s no handle on the top so it’s a bit cumbersome to move around (empty). The latch to open and close squeezes from top and bottom and can be a bit awkward

Great for dogs with anxiety
I got this for my ~70lb dog that had anxiety and would find ways to break out of the wire kennels. This was a little more, but let me tell you. Idk why, but his anxiety is better in this one, and his bed fits perfectly. Sure, sometimes he wines a little, but this is the first kennel he’s ever had in 15 years that actually does the job well!

One of the best crates
Like: this is escape proof and great for pups like Huskies that have separation anxiety. This is extremely sturdy and easy to assemble.Dislike: the front cap on the lock part kept popping off, exposing the locking mechanism. I had to glue this so it wouldn’t get damaged.

Big, sturdy dog kennel
I have a 65lb tall shepherd mix who fits perfectly in this kennel, I have a 73lb lab who also has the same one and they both fit great. It is a good kennel however the device you use to lock it gets stuck all the time and drives me crazy. It wasn’t a piece that I put together but it sticks all the time and makes it difficult to close when I put the dogs up at night.

It’s Petmate
It’s exactly what you expect from PetMate. They make good crates. Super easy to assemble. Took me maybe 5 minutes in total. Actually, I would even say they have “upped” their quality a bit. It felt like a much harder plastic and the metal grates for door and the side windows are sturdier feeling. I looked at the older crate we were upgrading from and it was like flimsy chicken wire side grates.

Great crate.
I have a great Dane mix who fits well in this. It is her sanctuary when it is storming. She feels very safe.

Minor flaws but good product.
Overall, the product is great. Material and function is quality. My only dislikes are that the bottom is not flat. There are deep groves the look uncomfortable and if there is a mess, it’s impossible to clean up. Also, the seam where the top portion of the kennel meets the bottom has a large gap in between. I would have preferred it to be flush or touching.

Sturdy.
Purchased 40 inch for husky/GS F 8 month pup. Portability is good for its size and weight. Pup is calm and comfortable inside. Price seems high but given its durability I expect it to last a long time.

Good product
Good kennel but no wheels and was not large enough for my dog. I guess I measured wrong. However good product.

Like brand new
Never bought anything that wasn’t brand new before, but this was like new! Very happy with purchase. Started using with 3 year old nervous border collie mix. Never thought she would go in it. She loves it and will go in during the day on her own.

5.0 out of 5 stars
Sturdiness, easy to assemble, plenty of room
Easy to assemble and sturdy , plenty of room for our dog to stand up and turn around in , she’s a mix between a Collie and Spaniel , only negative point is that it doesn’t come with labels and feeding bowls at the price …. will up date review once our dog has flown in an aircraft and it passes the IATA Approval code. Size of kennel I bought was X Large

perfect for my Labrador dog
Light weight kennel, perfect for my Labrador dog, and he is a big boy. Together he and kennel 49 kg, which is the maximum if you want to fly with your dog, over 49kg together and he would’ve been cargo and flight would have been very expensive, so lucky to have found kennel light enough, but sturdy and IATA approved!

My GSD says Thank you!!
We had to upsize our crate for our 18mo GSD and 17 mo Aussie. They are both happy now, the aussie’s crate was too small for her and she’d come out in the morning stretching because she’d be so cramped. This size worked great because we let our GSD have the new one as it was bigger than his current one and now they both are happy campers. This size is perfect for a 70lb GSD.

Actually makes traveling easier
We have a 70 pound English lab service dog. She’s a crate-lover, so when we visit friends or stay in hotels, we bivalve/nest the top into the bottom, then put all our luggage and other travel items directly into the crate as a basket that fits into the rear compartment of our SUV. It may take two people to lift into a friend’s house or onto a hotel luggage cart, but either is now accomplished in a single trip. It’s also well built, assembles and disassembles easily, and is big enough for Mia Bella to be happy in it.

Affordable and Quality Crate
This crate is very easy to assemble, sturdy, and super large for my big dog. It is very well made. It’s my second crate in 2 years (the first crate is smaller). The smaller crate is holding up very well so I got a larger one for another of my dogs. I’m very pleased with this brand of crate.

Nice crate, mistreated package
Cute is beautiful but took forever to get here I ordered it on July 5th and it got here on July 12th after calling customer service and few times asking about it each time for them to tell me it was coming the next day which it didn’t. On July 12th my mon saw a Amazon guy carry the box down the way almost dropping it and said to the guy be careful he stated I’m having a crappy day. She say I’m sorry don’t take it out on or mail and that’s probably mine. Sure enough it was our crate. Do better workers just because it’s not yours doesn’t mean you can mistreat it.

Perfect weight and size
It was sooo hard to find the perfect crate to travel with my dog this one was the 3rd one we bought and it was perfect size and weight . My dog is a lab mix and he is 31inch tall and he weighs 75 pounds with the crate total weight was 95 pounds just enough for the airline the maximum weight they allow it’s 100 pounds.

No escaping and minimal damage
So far so good. This crate has been much better than the metal ones where the bottom is removable. My puppy would move the tray out of the way and pee. Now that she’s in a solid one, she can’t do that and hasn’t peed in it. I was worried the pinch open door latch would be hard for my arthritic mom to open, but so far it hasn’t been an issue. I really like it.

A great den for your best friend.
The Vari-Kennel in the 40″ size is the home of Riley, our now 15-week-old German shepherd dog puppy. Like most new dog owners wise enough to realize that crate training is the only way to go, I anguished over metal crate or plastic crate. Well I finally decided to go for the Vari-Kennel after reading a lot of forum accounts of dogs getting injured in their metal crates. But that said, it was still a toss up because this big giant plastic airline-certified crate is big, and appears bigger than a like-sized metal crate that you can see though. But once it was in the house, my hypothalamus kicked in and it became part of the background noise of our quiet open-architecture house. The crate is really well-made. It comes in two halves and you simply mate the upper and lower and use the enclosed hardware (thumbscrews) to secure it. No tools necessary. The gate mechanism is solid and Riley has not challenged its security. It’s wicked easy to clean, too, which I accomplish by wiping it out with lysol wipes and then hitting it with our hand steamer, just to prevent any parasites/ova/cysts from hanging around in there. Now the important part: Riley digs it. I mean, he loves it. This is his den from puppyhood at 9 weeks until the end of his long life. When he first came home, we had it all set up with a nice soft bed (Midwest Quiet Time Pet Bed Deluxe Tan Ombre Swirl 35″ x 23″) and I placed a big plastic file box in the back of it to function as a partition. As you know, the partition is critical in house training your pup – at first, all she needs is room to turn around and reposition herself in the crate … any other space and she’ll get busy in the there if you know what I mean. By the time Riley was 12 weeks, he was 100% housetrained (with a 1-week safety factor, just to make sure) and we were able to pull the partition and give him the whole crate for the big puppy stretch-out thing … which is remarkably cute. Now all we have to say is Go To Camp! and he hustles into the crate and does a 180-degree turn and sits and waits for his treat. Sweet. One last thing: if he gets barky or whiny or old-man hrumph-y in the crate, we just lay a blanket over the crate and he quiets right down. Remarkably quickly. Not sure why it works so well but I’m not going to question the Puppy Gods over it. Maybe that will work for you, too.**UPDATE** Riley’s now 6 months old and 60 pounds. This size crate is too small for him. So whilst he can lay in it and turn around, he cannot stretch out sideways or lengthwise. Also, German Shepherd Dogs are known to flop down on their sides when they lay down, and the crate does not give him the space to pull off this behavior. Thus, we are upgrading to the next size up.

Petmate Vari Dog Kennel 40″
This product thus far is quite sufficient. Haven’t used a crate since my Labrador retriever since he was a pup 7 years ago. He is now 100 pounds and fits this nicely. Took me 3 minutes to train him to enter and stay. I will only be using this when we go hunting, the rest of the time he can use it at his leisure as it sits in the garage. There was an earlier comment stating that one person’s dog chewed through this crate. I don’t see that happening at all- seems more like a dog behavioral issue, i have seen crates made of thicker plastic but this one is perfect in terms of size and build quality.

As Expected-Well Made
Our rescue has just tested positive for Heartworm, so as we prepare for treatment (which includes exercise restrictions), we needed to get a crate. We bought the biggest one: 40 Inches for Large Dogs. Our girl is only 53 pounds, so there is plenty of room in there for her, her blankets, a couple toys and some water…with plenty of room to get up and stretch and turn-around.It’s sturdy and was easy to put together…and it should be very easy to clean. We have had PetMate kennels/crates in the past so this is exactly what we expect from them.Above, where Amazon asked me to rate it for travel, I only gave it 2 stars. If you needed it for constant travel in your car and were going to leave it there…great! If you need to transport it in and out of the car, in and out of the house, in and out of room…it would be difficult with this large crate. It’s not really too heavy once all assembled, but it’s so big, it would be awkward to carry. There are no handles on the sides or top like there are on smaller crates. You would definitely need two people unless you were going to take it apart each time.
